Why this course?

AI is reshaping how professionals work. But most training ignores what makes internal auditors unique: systematic thinking, independence, and a duty to uphold professional standards.

Instead, courses often focus on teaching "prompting tricks" or lists of clever commands. That approach quickly becomes outdated—and it misses the point. As an auditor, you already know how to brief colleagues, manage stakeholders, and review work critically. Those same professional skills are what make AI collaboration effective.

This course builds on what you already do well. It shows you how to treat AI like a junior team member or co-sourced provider—someone you brief clearly, challenge when needed, and hold accountable to quality standards.

What makes this course different?

  • Audit-first design - Most AI courses use generic business examples. This one is built for auditors. Examples are drawn from internal audit contexts—vendor management, risk assessment, control testing, and audit reporting—helping you see how AI applies to your actual work.

  • Reality over hype - Many courses promise "10x productivity" or "revolutionary results." This course focuses on building solid understanding: what AI actually is, how to evaluate tools professionally, and where your existing professional judgment applies. You'll gain clarity and confidence, not unrealistic expectations.

  • Acknowledging your existing skills - Other courses teach prompting tricks or expect you to learn new technical skills. This course shows you how the communication, validation, and quality control skills you already use transfer directly to GenAI., so you don't need to start from scratch.

  • Three-Intelligence Framework - This course introduces you to the Three-Intelligence Framework that underpins all our professional development programs. You'll see how your Technical Intelligence (analytical skills), Emotional Intelligence (communication and adaptation), and Strategic Intelligence (professional judgment) work together when working with GenAI.

By the end, you’ll have:

In just 90 minutes, you'll have the clarity, competence, and confidence to start collaborating with AI in your audit work.
  • Foundation understanding of how AI works and what it can realistically achieve
  • Initial awareness of professional boundaries and information security considerations
  • Basic tool literacy to distinguish between AI platforms and their audit applications
  • Clear next steps—whether you explore independently or continue with structured, scenario-specific implementation training
This foundation course introduces concepts that our comprehensive AI courses build upon directly. You'll gain the essential literacy needed to make informed decisions about AI tools and your professional development path—but not the detailed, context-specific implementation frameworks needed for daily audit application.

Who this course is for:

  • Internal auditors feeling uncertain about AI and needing clarity on what it actually is and how it applies to audit work
  • Mid-career to senior auditors who recognize AI matters professionally but don't know where to start without compromising standards
  •  Audit managers and leaders considering AI for their teams but needing to understand the landscape before making recommendations
  • Experienced professionals skeptical of AI hype who want realistic, profession-specific understanding before exploring tools
  • Anyone who assumes they need technical expertise or new professional frameworks to use AI effectively (you don't—but you need to understand how your existing skills apply)

Why learn with me?

I started as an AI skeptic. Like many auditors, I questioned whether AI could genuinely support professional work without compromising standards or judgment. But after understanding how it actually works—not the hype, but the reality—I now use AI tools daily in my work. That journey from skepticism to practical, confident use is exactly what this course helps you navigate.

My career has spanned the complete audit ecosystem—from Big 4 external audit at EY (Edinburgh and Cape Town), to internal audit leadership across the EMEA region at WPP and Evelyn Partners, and then into a director role at a boutique contract compliance audit firm, where I worked with global brands including Adidas, Bayer, Spotify, Barclays, and the UK Government.

Academically, I hold degrees in both History (Cambridge) and Accounting (University of Cape Town). At UCT, I also lectured auditing as part of my academic trainee role. And more recently, I qualified as an Instructional Designer—so I don't just know the subject, I know how to teach it effectively.

This blend of experience means I combine academic rigor, practical audit insight, and learning design expertise—along with firsthand understanding of the skepticism many auditors feel. The result is a course that gives you realistic clarity about AI in audit work—practical enough to apply, but always grounded in the professional standards that keep our work credible.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from general AI courses?

Every example comes from internal audit contexts—vendor management, risk assessment, control testing, and audit reporting. Instead of generic business scenarios, you'll see how AI concepts apply specifically to audit work. Plus, this course focuses on realistic understanding rather than productivity hype.

What if my organisation doesn’t allow AI tools yet?

This foundation course focuses on understanding what AI is, how to evaluate tools professionally, and how professional standards apply—knowledge that's valuable whether you implement immediately or prepare for future adoption. You'll also learn how to think about organisational readiness and professional standards.

Does this course cover all types of AI used in audit?

No. This course focuses specifically on Generative AI (GenAI) - the language-based AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot that can help with writing, research, and analysis tasks.

It does not cover traditional AI audit tools (fraud detection, risk scoring, transaction monitoring), AI audit systems, or specialized audit analytics software.

Do I need technical skills or programming knowledge?

No. This course builds on the analytical and communication skills you already use in audit. You won't learn coding or complex technical concepts.

What about professional standards and quality control?

These are central to the course. You'll learn how to collaborate with AI while upholding independence, evidence requirements, and professional standards - treating AI like any other information source that requires professional validation.

Will this actually help me in my current role?

Yes, this course provides essential foundation understanding. You'll know what AI realistically can and can't do, how to evaluate tools, and where your professional judgment applies. While it lays the foundation for our in-depth paid courses, it's valuable in its own right.

Do I need to purchase expensive AI subscriptions?

No. This is a foundation course focused on understanding and awareness, not hands-on tool practice. You'll learn about the major platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot) and how to evaluate them, but you don't need subscriptions to complete the course.

What if I don't have much time?

The course takes approximately 90 minutes total, structured into focused lessons. You can complete it at your own pace and return to specific sections as needed.
